The last month has been draining to say the least. Picking up the camera June 10, 2016, was difficult. I did not want to take my gear out of the vehicle for fear of contaminants, so decided on a shot from the window. As we came around the corner to see our home for the first time since May 3rd, 2016, the most intense sight from what was left of our front yard brought a smile to my face ...
"Try Not to Focus on the Crap"

The top image was my first glimpse of our property after the Fort McMurray House River Fire ravaged our neighbourhood on May 3rd, 2016. Our Garden Buddha remained watching over the only surviving daylily transplanted from my Mother's Garden to our front yard garden. To the right in the image, sitting on top of our garden bench is a large pile of sheep compost - 9 bags of poop became one (we had planned on spreading it on the freshly aerated lawn that day). Quite the reminder not to focus on the crap. ;)
Praying and thinking of you all during one of the largest natural disasters Fort McMurray has suffered in our day. This beast took our house, but not our spirit. #ymmfire
