I hope this extremely overdue Blog finds you well. It has been awhile since I have entered the Blogging world – I have missed it. There is something about writing that clears the mind and nurtures the soul. A little chicken soup that I need to do more often. My excuse? Well it can’t get better than this .... I have been busy celebrating the world around us ... celebrating it with amazing people.
When I was asked to do a maternity shoot by some very special friend’s daughter, Lexi, well you can’t imagine how honoured I was. And when Lexi and Brandon, asked if they could incorporate another very special mutual friend into the photos, well nothing other than “HELL, YA!” would really suffice. Somehow, I don’t think it is very often that a maternity shoot is done with a rescue Hybrid-Wolf, but when the wolf is Arctic Wolf, Sage, (who Lexi knows well and I adore) I couldn’t wait. When I work with animals, they are the ones who always call the shots. I never go in with a vision (oh, OK - I do go in with some wishes and dreams) but because these shoots are always impromptu dependent on the furry character’s mood for the day, I don’t like to set myself up for a concrete idea that just may not happen. These are truly the times when you live in the moment and composites start coming to mind. But before my mind wanders into the fictional world of photography and I start working on that composite, I have to share the non-fictional portion of this amazing session!
Lexi and Brandon - Congratulations! I sure can’t wait to meet baby, Landon! I can’t wait to get him in front of the lens! And then to tie it all together in an album ... my mind is racing with so many ideas! Thank you so much for sharing this special time with me! What an experience to work with Sage and to see her interact so gently with you.
Sage couldn’t get enough of keeping her ear near Lexi's beautiful baby bump. It was amazing how she would so tenderly stick out her tongue to give kisses (Sage not Lexi). Oh and to hear her howl!! (Sage not Lexi – although I’m told Lexi can howl with the best of them.) I still get goose bumps and go absolutely blank when Sage sings ... one day, I will have to get someone to properly video these performances! I have to also remember to not get caught up in the moment and keep hitting the shutter. A truly UBER AWESOME experience I am so blessed to be a part of. Landon, you are one lucky boy to be entering this incredible world surrounded by so many people that love you and who can't wait to show you around. Thank you so much, Lexi and Brandon, Carol, Randy and Sage for these unforgettable moments. Here’s to celebrating many more!
